OK fellow foodies, our latest get-together, which I have cleverly dubbed the Second Quarterly Food Frenzy Foodie Fest, is set for this Friday at 6:30 p.m.

We’re chowing down at Lou’s Red Oak BBQ, aka Lou’s Oak Oven BBQ, 21501 Brookhurst St., Huntington Beach. The phone number is 714-965-5200, and you can click here to read their menu.

Everyone is welcome, and feel free to bring a friend, significant other, kids, etc. Hope to see you there!

    lou’s = not good.

  • Eric says:

The fact that they don’t serve baby back ribs should tell you something……….I went there once with some friends……once was enough!

    • Jan in FV says:

I love baby backs, but the lack of them at a BBQ restaurant does not preclude a good meal.
Years ago, Elmer Dill’s gave Lou’s a stellar review. I can’t wait to see what our Foodies think!

  • Jeff Overley says:

Well, looks like this review will inspire some strong opinions. Place has 4 stars on Yelp, but several people seem to think it’s terrible - I’m guessing it’s going to wind up somewhere in the middle.

    • Sidney says:

I go to Lou’s on a regular basis…it is not terrible. The food is very good, especially the tri-tip.

Plus anyone who judges BBQ on the worst rib, Baby Backs, should not be listened to when it comes to BBQ. Baby Backs are for the Chili’s crowd :)

  • Julie Scott says:

I think I went to Lou’s a long time ago with my mother in law for brisket, but I won’t know for sure until we get there and I can see the place.

Personally, I judge a BBQ place by their brisket and prefer Texas style beef ribs to baby backs, so that’s not really a deal killer to me.

  • Wonginator says:

Lou’s has Santa Maria-style BBQ, which means a dry rub. The only ribs they have are St. Louis ribs, no baby backs or beef ribs. They do have tri-tips, which I seem to remember being pretty good. It’s been a few years since I’ve been there. Pretty good food, but not great. Good alternative to Lucille’s or Claim Jumper.
