Roy’s in Newport Beach is marking its 10th anniversary on Tuesday with a five-course, six-drink, one-lei, $85-per-person gourmet dinner of doom (my description, not Roy’s).
Looking at the menu, the food of course sounds outlandishly wonderful, but I was especially surprised by the menu of drinks - five wines and the eatery’s Hawaiian martini (shown at right, it has Skyy vodka, Stoli Vanil and Malibu rum, plus pineapple).
I mean, I’m sure the wine pours are just a few ounces apiece, but that’s still a solid lineup. If my lightweight co-blogger Niyaz were to attend, he’d probably be doing the hula on a tabletop before dessert was served.
Everyone who attends gets a lei, a martini, entertainment from dancers and everything shown on the menu after the jump. Reservations, of course, are necessary.
FIRST COURSE: Jumbo Hokkaido Scallop, Waimanalo Sweet Corn, Porcini Mushrooms, Black Truffle; Levendi Red Hen Chardonnay
SECOND COURSE: Heirloom Tomato Salad, Hazelnut Sherry Vinaigrette, Ricotta Salata; Levendi Cold Creek Chardonnay
THIRD COURSE: Steamed Japanese Hiramasa, Simmered in Levendi Syrah, with Soy, Lemon & Olive Oil; Levendi Stagecoach Syrah
FOURTH COURSE: Salt & Long Pepper Filet Mignon, Honshimeji Mushrooms & Ko Chu Jang Natural; Levendi Symphonia Cabernet Sauvignon
PERFECT ENDING: Lilikoi Pudding Cake, Raspberry Puree & Fresh Fruit; Levendi Late Harvest Riesling

Dear Jeff,
I hate you.
Niyaz.
LOL
Hey, it’s not all bad being a lightweight. Alcohol is expensive..!
Wow, nice menu. If I wasn’t poor post-Vegas this week I’d really think about it…
