Quick bite: TK Burgers

October 15th, 2008, 10:38 am · 1 Comment · posted by Kat "I eat 'til my pants hurt" Nguyen

Finally tried what many consider to be a classic O.C. burger institution: TK Burgers. The original in Huntington Beach is an iconic burger stand on PCH but I stopped by the one of two locations in Costa Mesa instead.

A quick assessment: The burger tastes like a better version of the stuff you throw on a grill at home. And that’s a good thing. The patty was juicy and had that nice char-grilled taste to it. I wish the egg bun was a bit warmer or toasted a bit more — it’s a really dense bun that will stick to the roof of your mouth. Fries were crisp and not too thick, not too thin. Hamburger combos run about $5. Done deal.

TK has a great breakfast burrito as well, I order the combo breakfast burrito with no ham and no eggs (although the eggs are light and fluffy for the most part, when I do order it with them). I love to cut in half longways and douse it with a full cup of their vinegary salsa!
