Just Say No Unless It’s Stoli O

ff_stolio.jpgI forgot to mention that at Wind & Sea I ordered a cocktail before dinner. I wanted something, anything, that wasn’t a cosmopolitan or other fruity martini and yet something with some citrus edge. An old favorite popped to mind: Stoli O and 7, which is nothing more than orange-flavored Stolichnaya vodka doused with some 7-Up. Wind & Sea doesn’t carry Stoli orange, but the waiter offered up Absolut Mandrin. I’m not an Absolut vodka fan. I find it coarse. But since I couldn’t remember trying its Mandrin flavor, I agreed. Good to know the company is consistent in its vodka manufacturing. This was one of the bumpiest, assaulting cocktails I think I’ve ever had. I might have finished it all, but I wasn’t happy about it.
